About Us

Hi my name is Kate and I’m the Mum behind Rolling Along With Kids. Our family of four from Victoria, Australia love travelling to Bali.  I have been on 13 trips and hubby Jed has been 8 times. Our kids love traveling to Bali too and Charlotte who is 12 years old has been lucky enough to go on 8 trips. I was 18 weeks pregnant with Mason when we visited in 2013, lucky the morning sickness stopped just before we left!! He also has been 6 other times. We have stayed in many different places in Bali including Seminyak, Sanur, Ubud, Kuta, Legian, Canggu, Nusa Lembongan, Amed, Munduk, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Candi Dasa, Bingin, Sidemen and Benoa. I also have a couple of posts on our home town Bendigo if you live or visit Victoria.

Travel with Mason is always interesting but he has definitely improved over the years! He was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3 and has also been diagnosed with ADHD plus has delayed speech. When he was younger he loved water and climbing, so was not a great combination when traveling anywhere but especially Bali. Finding safe accommodation for our family is really important so we can have a relaxing holiday as well. That is one of the main reasons I love doing this blog. It is a lot of work and I have learnt so much but have met so many lovely people along the way!

Something that often surprises people is that I suffered a stroke in October 2016 at the aged of 34. I share my experience of this life altering event with you in the blog and below you can find the posts I wrote in 2016/2017 about all that happened. I know its not directly related to travel to Bali with kids but hopefully these posts will be an inspiration to how having a passion like travelling to Bali can help to recover.

My wonderful Mum is no longer with us and is part of my inspiration to start this blog. She passed away November 2011 just 5 days before my 30th birthday, she was 51 years of age. We shared a love of travel, family and animals. She never got the chance to travel with us to Bali but I feel each time I return I am more at peace. A couple of posts to help explain why I started this blog can be found here and here.

So that’s a bit about me, would love to hear more about you! What do you love about Bali, have you never been and what craziness has been part of your life too. Feel free to message me through Facebook or Instagram, I’m usually there 😉 So here’s cheers to enjoying life while appreciating the ups and downs.

Kate xx

Hi Kate, I’m hoping you can help me please. We are two families travelling together, 4 x adults, 3 x active boys (8 years and under). We are looking for a four bedroom villa with 2 sets of interconnecting rooms or rooms across the hallway if the villa can be locked at night (just like a home in Australia). We don’t want to have to lock our bedroom doors. Our preferred area is Canggu or Jimbaran or anywhere you can suggest. A pool table or table tennis and grass area would be awesome. Also, somewhere within walking distance with kids. Included would need housekeeper, security and chef and breakfast. We would be travelling in September this year and we have missed out on Villa Suar in Seminyak. I know there’s a lot I’m asking for, I’m hoping you can help me out. I’m stuck and I’ve been looking for a couple of weeks. Thanks Lisa

      Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much for getting in touch with me and let me put my thinking hat on! It would be easier to chat in our Facebook group if you would like to join? This also has other Mum’s and Dad’s that have stayed in Villas too x https://www.facebook.com/groups/rollingalongwithkidsinbali/

    Hi Kate,

Thank you so much for your great insights into Bali and travelling there with children. I have never been to Bali, we live in Sydney and have a 4 year old.
We are very tempted by the Holiday inn Bali Benoa and i understand its close to Nusa Dua and i was wondering about food options nearby. Reading some reviews it says food is average , it certainly looks lovely from your pics but are there any other options nearby. My 4 year old is a plain eater but we like to have other options if possible.
    Thanks so much.

Bumbu near Holiday Inn is fantastic and Indonesian Food. You could always get a taxi the short distance to Bali Collection that has a huge range of restaurants 🙂

first of all just wanted to say your website has some great insights into bali. We are going next year for my wifes 40Th with 2 kids aged 5 and 8.The kids first time overseas. In your opinion which is better hotel out of grand mirage , holiday inn benoa and hard rock hotel. Grand mirage seems value with all inclusive. hard rock looks most fun bjt not sure i want to be that close to kuta. Holiday inn seems to review well. Such hard decsion. The padma looks mazing but very pricey
we really just wnat arelaxing holiday where the kids can feel comfortable in a kids club and good pools. then me and wife can enjoy some good food and drinks

    thanks todd

Hi Todd, great to hear from you and thanks for your kind words x Ahh it’s so hard choosing! We haven’t stayed at Hard Rock or been to the hotel. I have heard great things for that age but be aware of the extra costs involved for things like the kids club and gazebo. Grand Mirage is great but we definitely thought the food could be better! Holiday Inn is a great compact resort that is easy to get around. Perhaps join our Facebook Group and you might get some more ideas in there. Keep in mind with the Padma that they have pay 5 stay 7 deals, might be worth checking out as it is amazing! Cheers Kate
