The 3rd installment of our Bali Holiday sees Charlotte and I head to Seminyak for 2 nights. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed time with just the 2 of us.
Wednesday 29th May
We woke to a quiet villa and enjoyed our last morning together as a family as hubby was heading back to WA for another 4 week stint of work. It is always a dreaded day for a FIFO family but being in Bali was a lovely distraction. Instead of having the girls cook breakfast for us we headed to our favourite breakfast spot The Porch Cafe. Both hubby and I tucked into the delicious hash stack and Charlotte loved her scrambled eggs. I always enjoy breakfast at The Porch and love the option of sitting inside under the AC if I’m hot and bothered.

We head back via the Bread Basket and I wish I had tried it earlier in our stay. Everything looks so yummy so I grab a few croissants for lunch and head back to pack. We head to the airport at 11.30am and it only took 1/2 hour to drive there. We do the dreaded goodbye and driving away leaves me with that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. Hubby scores bulk head seats and free entry into the Premier Lounge as he is a Gold member with Virgin which helps to keep him happy. Our driver Wisma drove Charlotte and I to the Semara Resort in Seminyak. We were offered an upgrade to a second floor executive room but I was keen to keep the ground floor poolside room so when she was sleeping I could use the pool.

After a nap we headed to Eat street and had an early dinner at Cafe Bali. I had a lovely gnocchi and Charlotte enjoyed her chicken satay. Loved the table decorations and the feel of the decor was delightful. We then walked to Grocer and Grind and tucked into mud cake and cinos.

We headed across to Biku for breakfast at 8am and I had a delicious potato cakes with scrambled eggs and Charlotte had toast with vegemite. Coffee was yummy and I would have been very happy to eat here every morning. The staff were once again fantastic with Charlotte and is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Seminyak.

I had organised our nanny Berta to come for the day and they were straight into the pool. I had a shopping day planned and headed to Bintang supermarket for a look. Picked up a few toiletries, pull ups for the flight home and a couple of presents. Decided to get a taxi to Bali Brasco to have a look. Wasn’t too bad but probably wouldn’t go back, bought a tshirt and skirt and enjoyed the AC. Headed back to Semara to drop off my purchases and see how the girls were going. Back in to another taxi this time to Mamasan for lunch. Was very impressed with everything, loved the decor, the staff were excellent and food was delicious especially the creme brûlée which was the best I have ever eaten.
Creme brûlée, will remember this for a long time!!
Leaving very satisfied I wandered through the boutique shops of Eat street and found some great buys for myself and Charlotte. I finished with a latte at Revolver which was one of the best I have had on our trip.
Loved this shop, also had some lovely photos and artwork

Caught a taxi back to the Semara as we had a dinner booking for 5pm at La Lucciola. Things didn’t go to well from the start as they didn’t have our booking listed for 5pm and I probably should have researched a bit better as the dinner menu wasn’t really appropriate for a 2.5 yr old. I had also worn my dressy black thongs with a nice dress but they kept insisting I couldn’t wear them and tried to give me a size 37 pair of sandals which I couldn’t even get on as I’m a size 41! So next they presented me with a pair of black men’s sandals which did fit and put my shoes in a plastic bag under the table!! By this stage I was getting quite hot and bothered so decided to go elsewhere and keep La Lucciola for a romantic night out when we were back next time.
So we walked along the beach with probably the best sunset of the whole trip and Charlotte was getting quite hungry by this stage so we stopped in at Potato Head as it’s next door to the Semara. Food was nice and the sunset was stunning.
Love evening strolls along the beach
Dessert in bed, oh the joys of holidays!!

Friday 31st May
Our last day so thought we would try Pettingtet for breakfast. Food was lovely but the staff seemed quite disinterested and not the usual cheerful Bali service. We then went for a walk down the beach to Ku De Ta and had a juice and bubacino.
Lovely last morning at Ku De Ta
We caught a taxi up to one of my favourite brand shops Coco and Ginger in Batu Belig where I purchased one of their new mama bags. Great sized bag and will be great as a nappy bag once bub number 2 comes along.

By this stage Charlotte was itching for another swim in the hotel pool so back for a swim and then sleep. When she woke we headed up to the Cubbyhouse kids club and she had a play for a couple of hours while I packed our bags. I decided to grab a taxi to the Slippery Stone for an early dinner before our flight and was so glad I did. The staff were lovely showing Charlotte around the gardens and the food was delicious. They even made up a chocolate milkshake for Charlotte even though there wasn’t one on the menu. Would definitely like to head back for romantic dinner with hubby next time.

We had a friendly taxi driver who drove us back to the hotel so I organised for him to come back at 6.30 PM to take us to the airport. Only took us 30 minutes to get there and I paid a porter 50000rp to take all of our bags all the way to the check in line. Well worth it due to the long walk and my heavy bags!! Lined up to check in for 30 minutes then easily through immigration. Headed upstairs to the Premier Lounge but decided to check out the Marigold lounge which is just opposite and the staff offered us a rate of 150,000rp for both of us. Charlotte was happy as they had popcorn and we settled in to the private room at the back to have a relax before the flight.
Flight left on time and Charlotte slept most of the way which was nice. The staff were the usual disinterested Virgin crew and the 2 toilets were ok until it was completely blocked off after a gentleman vomited everywhere in the rear seats of the plane. So glad we were in the middle section!! Food they served was fine and flight time was only 5 hours so we were back in freezing cold Melbourne in no time.
Once again Bali had given our family such a lovely holiday and can’t wait to head back next year. I found being 18 weeks pregnant was no problem at all and I was able to enjoy lots of mocktails!
