Our recent stay at the Grand Mirage Bali Family wing was a lot of fun! Located in Tanjung Benoa, the Grand Mirage Hotel Bali has something for everyone. We were guests at the newly built Grand Mirage Family Paradise section of the resort which is well set up for families and the Grand Mirage kids suite rooms a hit! Choosing the best family hotels in Bali can be hard work. There are so many fantastic Bali family resorts and the Grand Mirage Tanjung Benoa is one of them. We loved sharing everything from our stay and hope it helps you to plan your Bali family holidays. After you have finished reading our review, you can head to our Facebook page where you will find the live Facebook videos we did during our stay and our Facebook group where we have lots of discussion about the Grand Mirage (sorry no Bali business owners).

Why should your family stay at Grand Mirage Resort Benoa?
- You are looking for good value Bali accommodation for family of 5 people. The kids suites are well set up for a family of 5 and the facilities for the kids are fantastic making it some of the best family accommodation Bali has to offer.
- You want to have the option of going the Grand Mirage All Inclusive offer. This is great for your family if you want to relax and spend time at the resort. If you are undecided about all inclusive, you can always join once you are at the resort. To do this you just need a minimum of 3 nights.
- You want to experience Bali just outside of your resort. Benoa, where the Grand Mirage is located, is not like Nusa Dua which is a gated community full of 5 star resorts. Directly outside the resort gates is a street full of Bali restaurants, shops and supermarkets.

Tips before you stay at the Grand Mirage Bali Resort
-
- Have a good look through the Grand Mirage Resort Hotel Website. This has so much information including resort maps, details on the all-inclusive, special deals and room floor plans. This will help you decide if the Grand Mirage Main Wing or Grand Mirage Family Wing is right for you.
- Keep an eye out on this post where we list all the deals to Bali. Here we will add any Grand Mirage Bali Scoopon deals and any other specials we may come across each month.

Grand Mirage Resort and Thalasso Bali Overview
The Grand Mirage Resort is located in south Bali only a 20-30 minute drive from the Bali Airport. It sits on the Tanjung Benoa beach which is well known for water sports and gorgeous sunrises. The 2 lobbies of the resort, there is one for the Main wing and a separate entrance for the family paradise wing, are located on the main street of Benoa. Here you can find restaurants, supermarkets, laundries, spas, markets etc. When we arrived at the hotel our driver took us to the main wing where we were checked in and then driven the short distance to the family wing. What I love about Benoa the most is that you still feel like you are getting the Bali experience or you can just relax in the resort as everything is there that you need. Straight across the road from the Family Paradise Wing is a Coco Supermarket that has a great range of most things. There is also Starbucks at the entrance and one of my favourite Balinese restaurants Bumbu Bali across the road.

The Grand Mirage and Thalasso Bali is separated into 2 wings. The Main wing has been around for years and if you are after older styled Balinese accommodation this would be the choice. Here is a large pool with swim up bar, a kids pool, a small playground, Thalasso spa, restaurants and beautiful grounds for the kids to run around.

The Family Paradise Wing is located 100m walk up the beach. This is completely separate but you can enjoy the facilities of both wings and the beach path can easily be walked with a pram. This is brand new and feels like a modern hotel. Here the kids facilities are fantastic like the water slide and there is still lots of restaurants to enjoy. They also have a coin laundry in the family wing on the 3rd floor and you can purchase a 75,000rp coin for the washing and 75,000rp coin for the dryer. Alternatively the laundries outside on the street are a great value way of you not having to do any laundry!

Tanjung Benoa beach is not to be compared to beautiful Australian beaches. It is fantastic for water sports like jet skis, banana boats etc. but we usually stick to the pools when we are in Bali. The beach path is fantastic for early morning walks, I have trekked it many times with Mason as he wakes up early! Be sure to be on the path around 6am if you want to catch a gorgeous sunrise.

Rooms at Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali
For our stay we were located in the Grand Mirage Family Wing on the 3rd level in a kids suite that faced the pool and beach. I also had a look through the 3 bedroom apartments looking directly over the family wing pool. The Grand Mirage website has fantastic floor plans to look through on each room type so I won’t go through each one but show you the photos of the room we stayed in and the 3 bedroom apartment.
Grand Mirage Kids Suite Room
We loved the set up of the kids suites. For us it had plenty of space for our family of 4 and was fantastic to have a separate room for the kids with their own TV, bunk beds with pull out trundle so it could fit 3 kids, bathroom and storage space. We are always really conscious about security as Mason is a very good escape artist that needs to be watched at all times! What I loved the most about the kids rooms is there was no outside windows or balcony for the kids to get out from their rooms. This meant they needed to come through our room to get out which gave me huge peace of mind. Also the sliding door to the main bedroom had no lock on it so the kids couldn’t accidently lock themselves in. The kids bathroom was small with only a shower, toilet and basin but was all we needed.

The main bedroom was a good size with a nice sized bathroom with the shower over the bath. The closest with safe a good size and a fridge with minibar. If you go all-inclusive the mini bar is part of the price and is replenished daily. The balcony looking out to the pool is a good size but the door can’t be locked to keep the kids in. As we were concerned about Mason’s safety we were easily able to take the furniture of the balcony and put it in front of both doors. The main door did have a two-handed security latch but Mason broke that within 1 minute! They have a drying rack for swimming clothes on the balcony that was used a lot!

3 bedroom Ocean View Apartment
During our stay I was lucky enough to be shown through the stunning 3 bedroom apartments over looking the Family Paradise pool. These apartments had so much space and are perfect for up to 3 families sharing together or an extended family holiday at Grand Mirage hotel. Here are a few photos I took of the apartments and check out Grand Mirage’s website for floor plans.

Grand Mirage Kids Club and other kids facilities
The Grand Mirage Family Paradise Wing is certainly focused on keeping the kids happy. There is no time to be bored and you may have a hard time getting them to do other things! The kids facilities are well spread out throughout the family wing but not too far to walk in between.
Kids Waterpark
The kids waterpark is located near the lobby on the main road. But don’t worry it is secure and there is a small opening where you can sit to watch the kids to have a play. Perfect for the younger kids, Charlotte at age 7 still had a lot of fun. There is a supervisor at the park from 10am -5pm watching over the kids but parental or nanny supervision is also needed.

Family Paradise Main Pool with water slide
The main pool of the family wing was a good size and had a shallower area for the younger kids and a deeper section for the older kids. The kids loved playing with other kids they met and the water slide was a hit. Kids over 100cm in height can have a go and Mason at 4 years of age was 112 cms so could go on the slide. There is an attendant at the top and the slide is open from 10 am to 6pm each day. Next to the water slide is a rock climbing wall the kids can have a go on too. The Mahi Pool Side restaurant served food from 10am-6pm. The food looked yum and the kids menu looked fantastic, check it out here. Also not far from the pool area was a playground that was great for younger kids.

Grand Mirage Bali Kids Club
The kids club area at the Grand Mirage Bali family wing was a lot of fun when they were tired from swimming in the pool. Both of the kids club rooms are opposite each and are air conditioned. Kids 4 years and older can join in on the kids club activities from 9am-5pm. If they are under 4 they can be accompanied by a parent or nanny. The rooms are open till about 9pm but parental supervision is needed after 5pm.

Main Pool with playground
If the kids get bored of the kids facilities in the family paradise wing, which I very highly doubt, or Mum and Dad want a change of scenery head up to the main wing pool for a swim. There is so much space for the kids to run around in the gardens and the main pool a great size. One end of the pool has a shallow section for the kids which is next to a small playground. The other end is a very deep pool, I could only just stand up, near the swim up pool bar.

Grand Mirage Bali Restaurants
There is such a range of restaurants at the Grand Mirage that if you don’t want to leave you wont go hungry! It is one of the most popular all inclusive resorts Bali has to offer and if you are keen to go all inclusive check out their website as it details all you need to know. There are 8 restaurants throughout the resort of all different cuisines.

Breakfast Grand Mirage Family Wing
We had breakfast at the Ibu Kitchen in the family wing which opens from 7am – 10:30am. It had a good range of food and the kids were more than happy with their selection of pancakes, cornflakes, muffins, juice and eggs. Jed was a bit disappointed there was no baked beans and he also had to send back his soy latte as he couldn’t drink it. Lattes aren’t included in breakfast and cost about $5aud per coffee. If you are keen on a different spot for breakfast you can walk up to the main wing and enjoy it there with its more extensive range.

Ibu Kitchen restaurant at the Family Wing
We didn’t get a chance to eat here but I took some pictures of the menus. It seems I didn’t check if there was a separate kids menu but I’m sure they are looked after too!
Mahi Pool Side Resto
Open from 10am-6pm, this pool side restaurant at the family wing has a great range of food.
La Cascata
We enjoyed dinner at La Cascata the Italian restaurant in the Main wing. Was a beautiful setting overlooking the beach and our food was nice. Unfortunately we hadn’t applied any mosquito spray and were eaten quite badly. The staff tried coils and moving us to a different table but the mosquitos had obviously decided that we were dinner for the night! The staff were amazing and placed our main meals and dessert into take away containers so we could take them back to the room. Mason was also find it very hard to sit still and as we know as parents sometimes you just have to make compromises!

Tanjung Benoa Restaurants
If staying in the resort the whole time to eat doesn’t suit your family then you are in luck! There are some fantastic restaurants near Grand Mirage Bali including one of the best restaurants in Bali, Bumbu. This place has amazing Indonesian food and also has a cooking school which get rave reviews. There are 2 restaurants for Bumbu and one happens to be across the road from the Grand Mirage Family Paradise entrance. I had to drop in and get some take away chicken satay and the place was absolutely packed. So if you are keen to go here I would recommend booking once you arrive and even better get a nanny to come and babysit the kids.

Here are the list of restaurants to try out in Benoa:
Nusa Dua Restaurants
Only a short drive away is Nusa Dua and you can find many restaurants in the resorts and also Bali Collection restaurants. Bali Collection is a group of shops and restaurants and the hotel has a shuttle to Bali Collection. We loved Prego Bali Restaurant at the Westin Nusa Dua for Sunday Brunch with the kids. It was a lot of fun and keep an eye out on the blog, we will be sharing our experience soon. We have lots of photos and videos on Facebook so have a look if you can’t wait!

Supermarket and shops near Grand Mirage Resort Benoa
Directly across the road from the entrance to the Family Paradise wing at the Grand Mirage Bali is a Coco Supermarket which is open 24 hrs. It had a large selection of food, baby supplies, alcohol, clothes, souvenirs, pool floaties and much more. I took a few photos of some of their range.

As I noted before there is a Starbucks at the Family wing entrance and next to that is an authorized money changer, ATMS and another convenience store. The street also has smaller shops and spas but we didn’t get time to try them.
Benoa Bali things to do
There are so many things to do in Benoa but you may have trouble convincing the kids to leave the family wing! Here is a list of a few things that you can explore close to the resort. If you are wanting to know of things to do in Bali with kids like day trips or activities check out our ultimate guide here which I will be updating again soon.
I loved the look of Taman Bhagawan but the kids were to tired to drop in and have a look! So much space for the kids to run around and if there is no private event set up perfect for a swim in the pool by the beach.
Benoa Bali Map
We loved our stay at Grand Mirage Bali Family Paradise wing and will be definitely staying again. One night was just long enough to get a taste of what it has to offer and as Charlotte our 7 year old said, “why do we have to leave?!” If you have any questions about our stay feel free to email me or contact me through Facebook or Instagram.

Fantastic review and photos. Thanks so much for sharing. We are just choosing where to stay in Bali, and this helps heaps.
Thanks for the kind words and have a great trip!
This review was AMAZING. Thank you so much. Can I just ask – you mention soy milk a few times- was this due to someone not eating dairy?
Thanks and my hubby and son have soy milk 🙂
Great information, have stayed in Main building but was concerned as the’ Family Paradise’ is a separate building . We have a 2 year old in tow, does the toddler room have a paid nanny?
Is that right? Does this wing lack atmosphere as 4 Adults and one toddler staying. Staying November is the area still not fully open?Do they have prama?
We had great fun in the Family Paradise wing. A parent or your own nanny will need to stay with your 2 year old while the enjoy the toddler room
Thanks for the info . I’m off to Grand Mirage in May 1st week and your inputs are extremely useful.
Yay so glad you found it useful! Have a great time x
Hello Kate – I have just found your very informative & fabulous blog.
My husband and I and out 8 (almost 9 at the time of travel) daughter will be heading to Bali in August.
I have read both your reviews on the Holiday in Benoa and the Grand Mirage.
We just want a relaxing holiday – a resort with lots of activities or fun to keep our daughter amused.
Which hotel out of these two do you think would suit us better? Thank you
Hi Tania, lovely to hear from you 🙂 Our 8 year old daughter loves both places x Grand Mirage is a great for more outgoing kids that love lots of kids around. Holiday Inn Benoa has a more chilled out feel and the kids club is a nice relaxing place to do activities. Cheers Kate

Brilliant – thank you for your quick reply!
Thank you for such a detailed review! We are booked to stay in a few weeks but was concerned about shops/spa/restaurants near by. Also great to see prices/menu from hotel restaurants so I can budget!
