Last year when we won a 3 night stay at the Courtyard Marriott Bali Seminyak, I couldn’t believe our luck! I had been keen on staying at one of the many Seminyak hotels with the kids for awhile, so it was great timing. Even though we won our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak, we upgraded so had to pay the difference between the 2 room categories. Why should your family stay at the Courtyard Marriott Seminyak?

If you are looking for one of the best family resorts Seminyak has to offer then the Courtyard Seminyak is a great choice. It’s in a great position close to shops and restaurants, with a short buggy ride to the beach.

 

Tips before your stay

• When you book your room consider what you are needing from your stay. The cheaper rooms face the road and can be a touch noisy, so if you are wanting quiet rooms ask for a higher floor room that is away from the road side.
• If you have a very active child like ours that can turn door knobs easily, be aware that they will be able to escape out of the pool access rooms. The balconies on the higher floor rooms are very high and safe with kids when balcony furniture is moved away from the rail. With the deluxe rooms this is a bit harder to do as the balconies aren’t as large as the 2 bedroom suite balconies.

Ways to save money

The Courtyard Bali Seminyak often has great deals especially through companies like Scoopon or Luxury Escapes. Rooms

We found the rooms to be extremely comfortable and all the amenities that you would expect of a Western-style hotel. If you are after Balinese styled rooms, the Marriott Courtyard Seminyak is not for you. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suites and also viewed the One bedroom pool access suites and the deluxe pool view rooms.

2 Bedroom Suites

Our stay in the 2 bedroom suites was so comfortable with so much space! The suites consist of a huge lounge room that has a door leading to the balcony and 2 bedrooms both with an ensuite each. Because of the way the Courtyard Bali Seminyak resort is designed, there is a bit of a walk to get from one end of the resort to the other. We stayed in the further most room from the reception area in room 504 on level 5 so it meant a bit of a trek to breakfast and to leave the hotel each time. That being said it was very private and quiet.

The lounge room featured a huge TV perfect for relaxing with the kids after a long day in the pool. There was a bar sized fridge to keep milk or drinks cold and a kettle with a few cups. The dining table was a great size to enjoy room service with plenty of space for the 4 of us. A sliding door led out onto the balcony where there was a day bed that was quite heavy to move. This was great as we moved it away from the edge so that Mason couldn’t climb up on to it. There was lots of space to dry wet bathers and towels.

The master bedroom was huge! The bed so comfortable to sleep in and poor hubby, who was sick for most of our stay, highly rated it! Plenty of storage space and a safe in the robe. I so wanted to take the main bedroom ensuite home! The huge freestanding bath was lots of fun with the kids enjoying long baths and the shower had excellent water pressure.

The kids twin bedroom was perfect and they were very impressed to have their own TV. The beds were king singles so plenty of room for adults to sleep in them too. Once again plenty of storage space and the blinds blocked out the afternoon sun well. The ensuite had a toliet, shower over the bath and basin. We didn’t really use that bath/shower as it was in a bit of an awkward spot to bath the kids.

1 Bedroom Pool Terrace Suites

We had originally booked in the 1 bedroom suites that had direct access to the pool. We thought this would be great with the kids as they could come and go from the pool easily. These rooms were spacious and had easy access out to the pool area. The one issue we had was Mason, our 2 year old autistic son, could escape through both doors. There was no way from preventing him from turning the locks and leaving the room. Hence why we moved to a 2 bedroom suite on the 5th floor.

The lounge room was spacious and had a similar layout to the 2 bedroom with a fridge, dining table and TV with lounge. There was plenty of space for the kids to sleep on the sofa or a rollaway bed. The bedroom was a good size with a large walk in robe that led through to the bathroom. These rooms had no bath however, just a shower. The balcony looked out over the pool with a day bed but was not really that private as anyone could see you or your stuff walking past.

We would have been very happy in these rooms if it hadn’t been for the issue of keeping Mason contained.

Deluxe Pool View Rooms

In February before our stay I was able to view one of these rooms we had won to stay in from Honeycombers. The deluxe pool view rooms looked comfortable with similar amenitites to the one bedroom suites. They are probably more suited to a family with one child as there isn’t a huge amount of space for the kids to run around.

Other Room Types

This covers most room types at the Courtyard Marriott Seminyak Bali. The King rooms that don’t have pool views listed are in the location of overlooking the street and the pool terrace rooms are all on the ground floor facing the pool.

Kids Club

Opening hours 8am-8pm

Our kids loved the kids club at the Courtyard Seminyak and is high on our list of ‘Best kids club Seminyak’. The room was bright and spacious with different areas for varying ages. The ball pit was a favourite with the younger kids and the range of planned activities had the kids entertained. For the babies and toddlers there was a seperate room that had a couple of cots and change table if needed. As with most Bali hotels with kids club facilities, kids under 4 years needed a nanny or parent to accompany them to the kids club.

Dining

The range of food options at the Courtyard Seminyak by Marriott has everyone covered. We didn’t eat that much at the hotel for lunch or dinner as there were so many local restaurants in Seminyak that we wanted to try.

Breakfast

The range at breakfast was fantastic! There was a huge amount of food available and my favourite was definitely the smoked salmon bagels. A latte could be ordered to be delivered to the table after you sat down so win win for me! If you want your kids to eat healthy at breakfast watch out as there was icecream available, the kids thought it was great! The only downfall was that it was quite busy and the 3rd morning we found it hard to find a table.

Seminyak Kitchen

The main restaurant at the Courtyard is also the spot that we enjoyed breakfast. We didn’t eat in the actual restaurant but had room service that is served from the kitchen. The food was good, nothing to rave about, but we were happy with what we ordered.

Seminyak Meat Shop

If you are after a steak while in Bali, you can try out one at the hotel. The prices are still expensive for Bali but I hear the steaks are good!

Pool Bar

Lazing around the pool having food delivered to you is a great way to spend your day in Bali. The couple of times we ordered food around the pool it was good. When laying around the kids pool area it took a little wait for someone to take your order but it wasn’t too long. The pool bar looked fun but as hubby was not feeling the best we didn’t try it out. Happy hour is from 5 – 7pm.

What the Truck!

Such a great idea and is a great way to pick up food on the go on the way out of the resort. Mainly Mexican treats with a range of drinks.

Other Facilities

During our stay we also had a spa treatment included in our prize. The spa was extremely clean and the rooms were gorgeous but the lack of sound proofing from the pool nearby took away from the experience. The music played in the room had no way of cutting out the noise from the kids screaming in the pool. I’m not sure if this has been rectified or not.

Beach

The Courtyard Seminyak Marriott is not located directly on the Seminyak beach but the hotel has a buggy service that will take you to the beach club area that the Courtyard has near La Plancha. The walk to the beach is easy to do even with the kids as the paths are easy to push a stroller along.

Surrounding Areas

There is so much to do close to the hotel and I enjoyed exploring the streets on my morning walks. Charlotte had her hair braided at Spa Bali which is close by on Jalan Drupadi. Also near to the spa is Warung Laundry Drupadi where we would drop our bags of laundry off and they would then have them delivered to our room later that day.
