Our stay at the Sea Shanty Villa Jimbaran was so good, no one wanted to leave especially the kids who declared it was one of the best places to stay in Bali! Searching through the many Bali family villas we considered staying again in Seminyak or Sanur but instead decided to give the Sea Shanty Jimbaran a try and we are so glad we did. I have visited Jimbaran a few times over the last few years with the first time in 2001 for the famous seafood on Jimbaran Beach. It’s always been on our list to stay but over the last few years with the addition of great restaurants and shops, it was time to stay in Jimbaran and the Sea Shanty Jimbaran Villa suited our family and my sister in laws family.

Sea Shanty Villa Bali Overview
The Sea Shanty Bali is located in Jimbaran a short distance from the Denpasar Bali airport. The villa has 4 huge bedrooms including a kids bedroom with bunk beds. 2 lounge rooms meant there was plenty of space for our group of 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in ages from 18mth to 8yrs. The huge pool was a hit with the kids and I loved laying in the bale while they splashed around. Perhaps the best thing about the Sea Shanty Villa was the live in help that Lina and Supri provided. They made our stay at the villa so wonderful with their cooking skills similar to top chefs including their famous kids pancakes!

Pool and Gardens
The room and space for the kids to run around at the Sea Shanty Villa Jimbaran, is what made this one of the best stays in a villa that we have ever had in Bali! So beautiful and the pool was perfect with the kids. As we had an 18mth old toddler in our group, we had the on-site pool fence set up for us. This gave us peace of mind with the kids running around everywhere. The pool was a great depth and the kids shallow section fantastic for kids to splash around in. The bale overlooking the pool was a great spot to relax with a coffee in the morning. There was also an outside toilet which meant the kids could still go to the toilet without dragging wet swimmers around the villa.

Bedrooms
The villa comes with 4 huge bedrooms that all have a huge amount of space and each have an ensuite. The beds are one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in and Jed declared it the best!
Upstairs bedrooms
There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one is the master suite and the other the kids room with bunk beds. The master suite has its own balcony, desk, AC and ensuite with a toliet, huge robes with safe, 2 basins and an outdoor shower. In the kids bunk room overlooking the gardens it has a chalk board, 4 king single beds, AC and the ensuite has toilet, basin, robes, outdoor shower and bath.

Downstairs bedrooms
The bedrooms downstairs are once again a great size with so much space and both have AC. The bedroom closest to the entrance has the bigger ensuite with outdoor shower and bath. The other bedroom has a smaller bathroom with just an outdoor shower but this is the only bedroom that has a TV. As the downstairs lounge room doesn’t have a TV, this was the room that the kids sometimes chilled out in and watched a movie. The best part of the downstairs bedrooms was with the stair gate in place and the villa enclosed at night, it was secure for younger kids.

Lounge Rooms and Kitchen
The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge room were so well suited to travelling with kids. The huge dining table was such a great way to start the morning with breakfast cooked by Lina the amazing live in chef. In the kitchen there was 2 fridges and the one on the left had a filtered water dispenser and ice. We love having a full kitchen with all the essentials when travelling with kids and the plastic plates and cups for the kids were great! The couch was so comfy and the best bit is the villa could be completely enclosed. There is no AC in this area but the fans were more than adequate even in November to keep us cool. There was also international power points which made charging our phones easy.

The upstairs lounge is just off the kids bedroom and has a ceiling fan to keep the area cool. There is a TV, activities and books for the kids to enjoy. There was also a filtered water dispenser which was so handy so we didn’t have to go downstairs all the time.

The rest of the villa
The spaces throughout the villa were so kid friendly. The entrance doors could be secured at night and plenty of parking for when we returned from shopping. The stairs were safe with the kids and we had a stair gate put at the bottom. This was a small extra cost from Bali Baby Hire but was all organised for us by Donna the manager. The Jalan the villa was on was easy to access and once we knew where we were, easy to direct taxis back to the villa. Easy walking distance to the beach and local cafes, everyone was ultra impressed by the location of the Sea Shanty Villa.

Sea Shanty Villa Staff
The staff at the Sea Shanty Villa made our stay so wonderful and make it one of the best villas in Bali with private pool. Lina and Supri are the live in staff that took care of our every need. Lina’s cooking skills were amazing and the kids loved here pancakes! For dinner most nights she would cook the kids up food as they were tired and needed to get ready for bed. Our nannies Berta and Monica would help the kids have dinner while us adults would go out and enjoy a child free dinner and drinks. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they made us feel right at home. Donna, the manager, was so easy to book through and chat to prior to our stay.

Things to do in Jimbaran Bali
We had never stayed in Jimbaran before and loved the chance to explore the local surrounds. Here are our list of things we did in Jimbaran:
- Dinner at Cuca Restaurant. This is our second time at this fantastic restaurant and where I chose dinner for my birthday. So yum!!
- Dinner at La Brassiere Melting Wok. This was a short walk from the villa and such delicious food that was amazing value. Highly recommend.
- Dinner at Fat Chow Temple Hill. The views, the food and the decor. Worth the taxi ride up the hill!
- Manicure and pedicure at Nail Department in Jimbaran Corner. Great value and us 4 girls were able to have a special couple of hours together.
- In villa massage from Green Massage Spa, amazing value at $20aud for one hour.
- Drinks at Sundara. Such a shame we didn’t get to have a swim and eat here but I managed to escape for a hour and enjoy sunset drinks at happy hour.
- Coffee and cake at Chocolate Cafe Jimbaran Corner. Oh my goodness so yum, ice cream, cakes, the list goes on!
- A walk up the hill to the cafes and things to do at Movenpick Jimbaran Resort. Here we found that my favourite coffee shop Pison had opened up and the House of Trap looked like a lot of fun. For Mum and Dad drinks at Above Eleven Bar is a great idea!
- Order Thai food from Kat’s Kitchen. Delicious food delivered to the villa door.
- Walk along Jimbaran Beach and try some corn from one of the local sellers at sunset. Such a great spot to sit back and relax while the sun slowly sets. I also loved my morning runs and watching the fishermen start their days.

Jimbaran Bali Map
Here are some of our favourite spots to visit in Jimbaran and a few more that we wish we had time to visit! There’s always next time.
We loved our stay at Sea Shanty Jimbaran villa and would highly recommend to families traveling to Bali. Jimbaran has come a long way and is full of things to do. I love how central it is to everything with places like Sunday’s Beach Club, Nusa Dua, Sanur and Waterbom Kuta only a 20-30 minute drive.
